Coming Back?

So I haven’t posted in a long time. I used to love this blog. It was one of the few things in my life that gave me genuine, free expression. I loved delving into random obscure areas of this outwardly seemingly boring and redundant hobby to show how beautiful, intricate, and delicate it really can be. I got bogged down in my life, and lost interest in a lot of hobbies and passions I had at the time. But somehow everything has turned out okay. After the extra push from a close friend, I find myself returning to this page again, thinking of new ideas.

Things have changed in the last year though. I got into saltwater. I took my puffers all the way to full marine conditions, and then something went horribly wrong, and Jake died during a water change. And some plants did much worse in the differing care levels while I was out of state. And some did better. So now my tanks are all in completely new states. Suddenly, my block title seems much less apt, and I’ve lost continuity from what I’d built.

Oh well. I’m back, and it’s time to start new. My first series will cover a recent trip to the Denver Aquarium, covering some of my favorite tank setups I saw while there. The Denver Aquarium is a pretty nice place to visit. Many of the tanks feel quite underwhelming unless you have outside knowledge of the environment’s ecology or species information. I wish they had better explanations of the dynamics, environments, etc. I’ll try to fill in the dots.

In the meantime, here are some previews of some beautiful inhabitants I photographed.
